Installation guide[edit]

  1. Run "virtualbox-3.2_3.2.4-62467~Ubuntu~lucid_amd64.deb" file
  2. Click "Install Package"
  3. Enter password of your own computer
  4. VirtualBox will be installed

VBOX image[edit]

  1. Copy a reference vbox image to your home
    nemo:~> mkdir vbox
    nemo:~> cd vbox
    nemo:~/vbox> cp /afs/mics.snu.ac.kr/software/apps/vbox/VB_WIN_CLEAN.vdi .
  2. Modify your backup setting

VirtualBox setting[edit]

  1. Applications → System Tools → Oracle VM VirtualBox

  2. Click "New"
  3. Click "Next" on Create New Virtual Machine Window

  4. Name your virtual machine (OS = MS Windows, Version = XP) and click "Next"
  5. Choose "Base Memory Size"
    • Proper size depends on one's own RAM size (e.g. 1G out of 8G)
  6. Select "Use existing hard disk", select your vbox image "VB_WIN_CLEAN.vdi" and click "Next"
  7. Click "Finish"

Usage[edit]

A. Windows Running

  1. Applications → System Tools → Oracle VM VirtualBox

  2. Click the personal account
  3. Enjoy Windows B-)

B. Folder Sharing

  1. Click "Settings" on Oracle VM VirtualBox Window

  2. Select "Shared Folders"
  3. Click "Machine Folders"
  4. Click "Add Shared Folder" icon
  5. Specify your own shared folder information (path & folder name)

    • example) Folder Path: /afs/mics.snu.ac.kr/user/seobin
    • example) Folder Name: seobin
  6. Click "OK"
  7. Run "Windows XP"
  8. Go to "내컴퓨터" → "도구" → "네트워크 드라이브 연결"
  9. Type \\VBOXSVR\'your folder name'

    • example: \\VBOXSVR\seobin
  10. Click "연결"
  11. Finished ;)
